Our Registered Manager, originally from nearby Brough, oversees the management of the team. Colette works closely with the NHS and Cumbria County Council to ensure that people who leave hospital receive private nursing care in the home they love. She says, “My dad suffers from MS and dementia. Seeing him deteriorate is upsetting but the experience has given me an insight that helps me support our clients effectively and with compassion. Colette is passionate about ensuring our client's preferences and wishes are taken into account when they initially join our service and during subsequent reviews of their care. She maintains contact with clients and is always on hand for a chat to discuss any aspect of their care. 
 

Our home care team supervisor Sam, is as much a part of the community as the smiles its residents give to passers-by. Sam is passionate about providing care that helps people stay in the homes they love keeping them safe, comfortable and independent. Sam ensures the people we support receive the timely professional care they have come to expect of us. She provides daily support to all of our clients and families in the Kirkby Stephen area.

Sam maintains daily contact with the care team so that any health or care needs that are identified can be referred on to health partners when requested or discussed with family members. Clients & families will meet Sam regularly as she often provides care visits to support the Kirkby Stephen private care team.  
 

Cynthia, our Senior Carer, has worked with the team since 2017. As well as her in-home nursing role she is on-call when the office is closed responding to anyone’s health issues or concerns. Cynthia is available 24/7 to ensure the people we support get the timely help they need. She says, "I worked in retail for over 20 years and wished I’d become a home carer sooner. I love helping our clients knowing that I’ve brought friendship, comfort and security into someone’s day”.

Cynthia is a popular member of the team and our clients love to have her visiting, keeping their spirits up and providing good company. She knows immediately if something isn't quite right with any client and passes this on so that the appropriate action can be taken.

Much like Appleby, where we first began providing home care service, Kirkby Stephen is a traditional market town on the banks of the River Eden. Located in the beautiful Upper Eden Valley, Kirkby Stephen is a famous stop-off point for thousands of ramblers who complete the scenic Coast to Coast route each year. The Monday market that gathers beside the church cloisters has been part of the town’s tradition since 1352 providing a venue for local growers and artisans to sell their wares. 

Courtesy of Walkers are Welcome, the town offers beautiful walks specially designed for the elderly and those confined to wheelchairs. Their carshare service takes local walkers further afield to the surrounding picturesque villages and on return to the town they socialise together in one of the town’s many cafes.

The town’s social media group Kirkby Stephen Cumbria is co-managed by Eden Country Care. It helps us keep an eye on the community so we can share what’s going on with our clients. It’s where residents can share local events like Coffee Mornings, Walks, Film & Food Evenings that we publish on our community events calendar.
