Professional Conduct & Social Media
What to Do Next
Use this guidance if you’re unsure whether something is appropriate to post, share, or comment on.
Before posting, ask yourself
-
Could someone recognise the person or situation?
-
Am I sharing something linked to my work role?
-
Would I be comfortable if this was seen by the client, family, or employer?
If the answer to any of these is “no”, don’t post.
What to do
-
Keep work and personal life separate online
-
Never post about clients or situations, even anonymously
-
Do not share photos taken during work visits
-
Check privacy settings, but don’t rely on them
-
Follow the social media policy at all times
What not to do
-
Don’t vent about work online
-
Don’t respond to comments about clients
-
Don’t share workplace issues or frustrations
-
Don’t accept friend requests from clients or families
When to report

You realise something you posted may be inappropriate

You’re unsure whether online contact is acceptable
Remember
